Celtic have been knocked out of the Champions League after failing to score over two legs against Kazakh side FC Kairat, ultimately falling short on penalties.
Brendan Rodgers’ side mustered just three big chances over the course of the tie, which means his side will be demoted to the Europa League.
But for all the disappointment in the performances over the two legs, it was the penalties that provided the ultimate frustration.

Former Norwich striker Adam Idah missed the opening spot kick, only to have his blushes spared by a wild panenka attempt by Valeri Gromyko astonishingly hitting the crossbar.

But Luke McCowan and Daizen Maeda followed by seeing their penalties saved too for the Scottish champions, as FC Kairat remained perfect from then on to condemn Rodgers’ side to Europa League football.
The defeat sparked fury amongst supporters, who took aim at the board, the players and Rodgers, after two woeful performances.

And Rodgers was not oblivious to the poor nature of the game, with the Northern Irish boss describing the game as “awful”.
"I thought overall it was a poor game,” the Celtic boss said. “The pitch made it awful. We were defensively okay but couldn't quite make the breakthrough.
"We have to accept it. Congratulations to Kairat, it's a fantastic result for them, but we missed a huge opportunity.”

Fans have thrown criticism to the Celtic board after spending just £3million in the summer, and took to social media to express their feelings towards the boss and the board.
One fan wrote: “Rodgers has to go, that's a disgrace.”
Another added: “Sack Brendan. Sack the Board.”

A third demanded: “Brendan should walk. F****** embarrassing.”
While a fourth fumed: “Not one of them turned up tonight. Disgrace! Time to make up for it the weekend!”
Rodgers came to the defence of the board, claiming investment is needed in a sensible way.

“I always think that investment is great, but investment in whatever you're doing has to be at the right time,” he continued. “At this moment in time, it's a little bit raw.
"This group of players have given everything. We're obviously limited to what we could do in the game in moments. The players gave everything, we just couldn't find enough moments of quality.
"It's very frustrating. We all know where we want to get to. We showed last year the strides I felt we took, but you have to build on that.

"The last thing you want to do in football is manufacture your own stress, but all we can do now is look at where we're at as a football club and decide where we want to go.
The former Liverpool boss remained positive about his side’s chances this campaign: “At this moment in time we can still have a very good season."While Celtic fans may disagree with Rodgers’ assessment, bitter rivals Rangers have made a worse start to the season. The Hoops find themselves at the summit of the table with a 100 per cent record so far.
